The Cost Of War In Iraq vs. The Cost Of Illegal Immigration
February 12, 2008
Often when the anti-war folks rant and rave about why they feel our Troops should leave Iraq, one of the reasons they give is what they believe is the exhorbiant amounts of money we’re spending to finance the war. Often, they’ll even claim that the reason our country is headed for a recession is because of the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Honestly, I have to call bullshit on that claim. Especially after reading the following information that I recently received.
A few days ago, I received information about the cost of illegal immigration in our country as opposed to the cost of the war on terror and quite frankly, I was amazed. I never realized just how much money we were spending. Spending on people who have entered our country illegally! I checked the facts provided and became more and more convinced that our priorities as a nation are totally screwed up. Quite honestly, I don’t want my tax dollars paying for welfare and other benefits to someone who enters our country illegally. As far as I’m concerned, they should be immediately sent BACK to their country of orgin, and receive NO benefits from our country whatsoever. If they can’t follow the proper proceedures to enter our country the legal way, then they don’t deserve to be here and they sure don’t deserve any benefits. I’ll provide the information that I received, as well as links, so that you can verify the information for yourself. I think most of our readers will be as disturbed about this as I am.

I don’t know about you all, but I’d much rather my tax dollars be spent to ensure that the men and women servinng in our Armed Forces are able to continue to do their jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan, than to foot the bill for Illegal Immigrants in this country. I’m outraged that we’re spending that much to take care of these people, who could give a damn about our country and what it stands for. The only reason that they’re here is to take advantage of our generosity. Why the hell else do you think that Illegal Immigrants call the United States, “The Land Of The Big PX?” This is truly disturbing and disgusting. Next time someone uses the excuse of the cost of the war, as a reason to bring our Troops home, feel free to provide them with this information.

Terri I just learned this information as well. This is shocking. I’ve posted on this same subject and I actually have a liberal progressive socialist troll telling me that we can’t remove the illegals - he sites crazy reasonings. His defense of the illegals made me wonder if he himself is an illegal alien.
I’m with you, that money needs to be given to our troops to fight the war and also to the troops and their families! Those are the deserving ones of these funds.
Terri,
The DoD system blocked Soldier’s Mind for some reason and I have trouble getting on much. They have not blocked Flopping Aces, which I also write for. If you do not mind, I would like to cross post this there.
Feel free Chris. I noticed that too from my office, that I wasn’t able to get back onto the blog. That occurred right after Thanksgiving.
Twana, my thoughts are there are many, many things the money being spent on Illegal Immigrants could be spent for. I wouldn’t mind them spending it on anything, other than the illegals, if they didn’t want to use it to pay our Troops. Things like the healthcare system that they scream about needing fixed, getting people off welfare, etc, etc.

you people make me sick. This war in Iraq is bullshit and never should have happened in the first place. They had nothing to do with 9/11 and where is The person responsible?????????Iraq is a mess that we should try and pull our troops out of as quickly as feasibly possible. How will you pro war people know when the war is actually won in Iraq. And really… I understand you would rather fund the pointless war in Iraq than pay for illegal immigrants , but would you rather fund the war than maybe spend the 124 some billion a year HERE at home to help fix the problems here for our own legal citizens? As an proud anti-war “ranter” there are many reasons not to be fighting this war and the cost is just one of them. We are not fighting terrorism we are creating MORE terrorists. How do you really think they like us now? I would rather our troops actually be looking for Bin Laden. And DEEPLY wish I could bring back the 4185 dead U.S. troops back. How about not losing any more lives?

You’re entitled to your opinion Sharon, as are we. We have our reasons for supporting our Troops and their mission and you probably wouldn’t understand that even if we attempted to explain it to you. Perhaps you should spend some time with Military members or Veterans and find out why they do the job that they do. Then maybe you’ll understand why we feel the way that we do and why we support the job our Troops are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan. People who have no clue about the job our Troops are doing and why they’re doing it and protest because it’s the “in” thing to do are what turns my stomach.
I would love to speak my mind. I’d like to address Sharons comment. Yes, the war is taking alot of our boys lives Sharon, and it is costing alot of money. But have you ever talked to a young man (or women) who is going or has been in this stupid war,as you put it? I have, and he told me that if he had to do it again, he would go back in a heartbeat. Why? He said mom, to see the look of relief on all those poor innocent peoples eyes when they see us coming down the road. To know that we can assure them at least one night of peaceful sleep, and a chance to wake up to another sunrise. Sharon, these kids, our kids, and husbands, and daughters, are doing what they feel is right. They deserve our support and our prayers. The issue is with the government, not with our troops. Do you know what it must feel like to hear your own people putting you down, and critizing you for what you believe in? They did it to the Vietnam vets, and now alot of those men are on the streets, homeless, with addictions, due to depression. Is this what they deserved after all they went through? Seeing their friends die infront of them. Seeing them blown apart ! I If you have a bone to pick, take it up with the government. This is America, and we want to keep it America. I’m sorry, but I would rather support our troops, than those mooching illegals.
I do not have an ax to grind on illegal imigration or the war in Iraq. The problem with both situations is that we are in two messes and now we cannot see our way out of them. We should not have ever allowed the imigrants to get in illegally and we should not have gone to war in Iraq.
Finding and sending home illegal immigrants will be unbelievably expensive and time consuming. While we could obviously pay for some of that process with funds currently being spent on public services being provided to them, how do you take the money being spent on educating their children and get it to the INS? Easier said than done.
Iraq is much the same. We cannot just pick up and leave Iraq. Whatever the Bush administration’s goals were, the place is a mess and we helped make it worse. I work at a retail store next to Ft. Riley. My customers do not come back from their tours in either Iraq or Afganistan feeling good about what they have accomplished. They are frustrated with the lack of a clear mission and angry at the deaths of their fellow soldiers.
Simple solutions will not solve these complex problems.
Your mathematical skills must be very low. Since if you look at the numbers you will see that $338 billion is spent on just contracts alone in the war on terror. But you must find a scapegoat to make yourself feel like you are fighting for something other than the lost imperial dreams of the Bush family
but i do support our troops. I feel sad that they must die while the men that send them to war sleep comfortably. It is a poor mans war, it has always been and it will always be.
